Houston Spring is Here!
Well, we really did end up with quite a bit of winter weather this year. Now, it is time to dream of spring--Spring Break, that is! If you are visiting this area between March 8th and 16th, be aware that you will have plenty of company. Plan ahead for parking or parking-and-riding the metro to the "District of Destinations" and the rodeo.
Check out our family's favorite rodeo things in this throwback post from last year. If you have never been, trust me that it is actually a very well-organized event and not all the total chaos I expected it to be when we first moved to Texas. It is SO much fun! I have already been to the BBQ cook-off and carnival this year, and I can't wait to go to the rodeo in the coming days.
Speaking of BBQ, Mo Brunch & Brews has graced us with a nice surprise this month. You can get their vegan BBQ plate all this month along with some of their oh-so-good sweet tea. Now, I am most definitely not vegan, but I loved their BBQ plate when I had it this summer and I am thrilled it has returned so soon. Check out the details on their Instagram.
Also, on a bittersweet note, the Carruth Natural Encounters building will be closing, and the animals within it will be moved to different spaces in the zoo. This is great for the animals and needed for their benefit, but it will be a little sad to see this exhibit go. Plan to check it out one last time before it closes on Sunday, March 23, 2025, and here are tips from our family outings there.
The Miller Outdoor Theatre season kicks off this month! Yay! I saw a sneak peek of Open Dance Project's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at MATCH family day, and it was awesome! My kiddo loved it, and so did I. Bring your blanket or snag an ALWAYS-FREE Miller ticket to check out the full show on Friday, March 28th!
March Family Highlights
If you are visiting Houston (or a local visiting the district) this month, here is a quick highlight of events in or very close to the walkable Museum District zones. (In my mind, this means they are a close walk or 5-minute drive away.) As always, double check the links before you head over. There is always a possibility for last-minute changes or errors on my part (I am always writing these late at night, so typos are plentiful). I will update this list throughout the month as my schedule allows.
